William W. Whitmore

William W. Whitmore, a long time resident of Newburyport, passed away early Monday morning October 7, 2024 at Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire. He was born in Newburyport, MA on May 6, 1933 to the late Henry and Bernadette (Beaudry) Whitmore and was a graduate of Newburyport High School. Following his education William served our country in the US Navy before his honorable discharge in 1952. He married the late Louise (Venne) Whitmore and the couple settled in Newburyport to raise their family. He was employed at Chase Shawmut for almost 40 years until his retirement in 1995.

In his retirement Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and the dogs, and goofing off watching the News.

William is survived by his children, Walter Whitmore of Danvers, Warren Whitmore and his wife Diana of E. Kingston, NH, Linda Chapman and her husband David of Starks, ME; grandchildren, Jennifer Zamboni and her husband Devon, and Josiah Chapman and his wife Kate; great granddaughters, Autumn, and Haddassah Zamboni; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend William’s Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Friday October 18, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Whitmore’s family with his arrangements.
