William Todd, Jr. Obituary

William Kenneth Todd, Jr. died November 6, 2022. He spent his final days surrounded by loving family and passed peacefully in the home he grew up in, with Mary, his wife of 53 years, by his side.

Born on November 24, 1944 in Medford, MA and raised in Salem, NH, he was the oldest of seven siblings. He graduated from Central Catholic, went on to receive a degree from New Hampshire College, and served as a medic in the Army Reserve. He had a storied career that culminated as a senior executive in the logistics industry. He traveled the world extensively and living in Limerick, Ireland was his favorite, aside from Newburyport, MA where he and Mary started their family and always considered it home no matter where his career took him. Bill was active in the community, serving on both the Newburyport Historical Commission and the Newburyport Preservation Trust. He loved playing cards, especially 45s and SCAT, working in his garden, golfing and daily walks to ‘the bench’ dedicated to his parents on the waterfront. He loved music, even towards the end when he didn’t have words, he would smile and hum along, not forgetting a beat. Bill had the best handshake and an unmistakable smile. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time, laughing and being funny with his beloved family and friends. He lit up every room he walked into, he was just so easy to love.

Bill is predeceased by his parents, William and Olive Todd and is survived by his wife Mary, whom he cared for until his final days; and their children Meghan Santos and husband, Mike and Stephen and wife, Cory all of Newburyport. Bill was the best Papa to Todd, Ella and Roen and several others who just called him Papa. Bill is also survived by his siblings, Michael and Diane Todd, Kathleen and Kevin Walsh, Donna Dizzazo,

Debbie and Bob Beaudreault, Michele and William Edwards and  Jeffrey and Erin Todd; his brother-in-law Sean Casey and his sister-in-law Shelagh Casey, whose support was unwavering. Also, many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Bill’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the caregivers who have loved and cared for him like family for the last several years.
