Wayne April Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Wayne Robert April of Methuen MA. He passed away peacefully on January 22, 2021, at Cedar View Rehab in Methuen.

Wayne was born May 10, 1970, in Newburyport MA. He was the son of the late Robert and Arlene (Campbell) April. He was raised in Salisbury and a graduate of Triton High, Class of 1988. He also attended Northern Essex Community College. His first job during his school years was at Lena’s in Salisbury. Wayne always looked back on those years of being at Lena’s with such fond memories. He then went on to work at Seabrook Greyhound Park as a Dog Trainer for several years. A job that he truly loved and a perfect fit for the animal lover he was. After the closing of Seabrook, Wayne went on to be employed by Walmart in Seabrook  for several years. He was also employed with Walgreens and CVS. His most recent job was at Cracker Barrel in Tewksbury.

Wayne was an avid Boston Sports fanatic. The Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics & Bruins kept him busy all year long. Most of all, he looked forward to the opening season of the Red Sox and attending games at Fenway Park with his family and friends. He also loved attending races at Suffolk Downs to watch his childhood friend, Tammi Piermarini, jockey, race and was so proud of her accomplishments. His summertime joy was meeting up with his friends and spending time at the beach. He loved the annual trip out to his Godparents for the traditional Labor Day family clambake and attending the Columbia County Fair in Chatham, NY.

Wayne was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He felt so blessed to come from such a big family. He was so grateful to have his family and friends who were a part of his life and treasured every one of you. We hope you look back on fond memories and feel him smiling back at you. He had a warm caring heart and would be the first to offer assistance to anyone in need. He was cherished for his hearty laugh, wonderful sense of humor and generous spirit with a strong constitution of telling it like it is, good or bad.

Wayne is survived by his partner of 5 years, Joseph Boutin of Methuen and his cat Fenway, half brother Robert April Jr., Aunt Barbara Merrill of Salisbury and Uncle Robert J Campbell of Newburyport, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. . A special thank you to Wayne’s friend Cecelia Lane for the visits, flowers and support you gave to Wayne during his time at Cedar View. We appreciate all you have done for him and we know his days were made brighter thanks to you.
