Thomas Salvatore Obituary

Thomas Daniel Salvatore, 59, of Amesbury, passed away peacefully in his home Monday, 6/17/24. Thomas was born February 15th, 1965 at Anna Jaques Hospital to Frank and the late Dorothy (Erickson) Salvatore.  As a Newburyport native he attended the Immaculate Conception School and graduated from Newburyport High School. He earned his B.A. in English with a concentration in Public Relations and Communications from North Adams State College in 1988.

Thomas loved sports and competition, which was easily seen through his illustrious high school career. As a Clipper, Tom tallied 100 points to become one of the first members of the 100 point club with the hockey team, he also set a record scoring 5 touchdowns in a single game for the football team, as well as receiving the Ryan Cup award for his outstanding high school sports career. That passion for sports carried over into his children’s lives and their own sports careers. He would religiously attend his daughter’s soccer, softball, basketball, and field hockey games, cheering her on like there was no tomorrow.  If he wasn’t there he was busy with his 6-year coaching career for the Junior Wildcat hockey team where his son played. The dedication he showed for his children could be seen from miles away. And if he wasn’t cheering on his children you can believe he was cheering on his favorite Boston sports teams. As an avid hockey fan, the bruins were his favorite and whether watching in the old or new Garden he felt at home.

During and after high school he worked at Rowe Marine Supply selling merchandise behind the counter or out on the captains boat reeling in tuna and lobsters. He loved a good lobster. As his family grew he moved into the pharmaceutical industry where he carved out a name for himself in sales. Whether he was a good salesman, or it was his lobster lunches for clients, there was no denying he was working hard for his family. That hard work allowed him to do what he loved most, spending time with the ones he loved.  He showed that by taking his family to Lake Winnipesaukee in the summers for the annual get together with friends and family. He would also take them to Disneyworld and to the island of Aruba when he felt everyone needed a vacation.

Wherever Tom went there was an aura of happiness and smiles. He knew how to make light in serious situations and take a hit to protect the ones he cared for. If he wasn’t making jokes at the local watering hole he was making fun at a family party. His warm smile and belly laugh will live on forever with all the ones he leaves behind.

He is survived by his father Frank Salvatore and his children Kerri and Michael Atkins, Matthew and Kerin Salvatore, their mother Robyn (Rowe) Standring, and his beloved dog Finn. As well as his two grandchildren Ashton and Adelaide Atkins, who surrounded him with love through all his days. He also leaves behind his devoted brothers and sister who he loved so much; Joseph Salvatore, Anthony (Christine) Salvatore, and Anne (Jon) Farrell, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
