Thomas F. Melican, Jr.

Thomas F. Melican, Jr., 74, passed away on Wednesday morning January 27, 2021 at his home in Hampton, NH. Born August 8, 1946 in Newburyport, he was the son of the late Thomas F. Melican, Sr. and Audrey (Welch) Melican. He was a 1964 graduate of Newburyport High School, attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and received his B.S. in Engineering from Northeastern University.

Tom spent over 40 years as an executive in the construction industry.  He adored the work he did, and took pride in every project and every relationship he formed with those he worked with.  His most treasured pastime was driving up and down the coast; he was happiest when by the sea.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sylvia A. (Bragg) Melican, his loving children Daniel P. Melican, Sr. of Hampton, Stephanie A. Williams and fiancé Ryan Phillips of Newburyport, his beloved grandchildren Daniel P. Melican Jr., Dean Williams & Audrey Williams, his sisters Grace Anne Kolesar of Newbury and Mary Bragg and husband Carl S. Bragg, Jr. of Newburyport, his brother Patrick Melican and wife Susan of Augusta, GA, and his Uncle Thomas Welch and his wife Janice of Potomac, MD. He treasured his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his dearest friend Norman Volpone.

Services and burial will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Melican’s family with his arrangements.
