Theresa Marie (Goguen) Hughes

Theresa Marie Hughes, 97, a resident of Newburyport, died Wednesday morning July 28, 2021 at Country Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Newburyport. She was born on May 14, 1924 in Lynn, MA to the late Jadus and Eliza Goguen. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Jean the Baptist High School.

Following her graduation she was employed by General Electric as an assembler for many years until her retirement. It was there that she met her future husband Raymond Hughes and the couple married in 1968 and enjoyed 51 years together until his death in 2019. Theresa and Ray settled in Newburyport shortly after their marriage. The couple travelled all over the world, and were especially fond of their trips to Europe and to Las Vegas.

Theresa is survived by many nieces and nephews, and her niece in law, Janet Losano and her husband the late Richard Losano whom she lived with for many years. She was predeceased by her siblings, Albert, Maxime, Henry, and Arthur Goguen, Rita Domey, Bernice Losano, Doris McInerny, and Eva Pellerin.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 to 12:00 PM on Thursday August 5, 2021 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Her Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Funeral Home at 12:00 PM followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery in Newburyport. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT.
