Theresa I. (Besner) Deneumoustier

Theresa I. Deneumoustier,86, died on  February 25.2025 surrounded by family in Home Hospice in New Hampshire.

She was born in Apple Hill, Ontario, Canada, on October 24, 1938, The  daughter of the late Adrien and  Rita (Berry) Besner.  She was the oldest child of four, and left home at the age of 16 to look for work in Montreal to send money home to her family.  She worked in a light bulb factory as a young woman.  While in Montreal, she met John Deneumoustier and they were married in 1957. They immigrated to the United States in the 1960's to the Boston area where they raised their five children.  They eventually made their way north to Amesbury and then to Newburyport, Massachusetts. 

Theresa graduated from Beauty school and worked as a hairdresser  for a time and she also worked for the Electronic Products, Inc. (EPI)  factory in Newburyport.  In her spare time, Theresa bowled in leagues at Lafayette Lanes & Baldinelli's.  She loved music & was involved in the  church choir, she enjoyed cooking, and  planting flowers, especially Geraniums.  She also enjoyed trips to Newburyport's Waterfront  Boardwalk.  Theresa & John  were compassionate to animals & adored their dogs and many cats that they adopted throughout the years.  Theresa's true passion in life was raising her children and spending time with her family.

Theresa is predeceased by her husband John and her son John A. Deneumoustier.  She is survived by her four daughters;  Sheree McMurry and husband, Ken of FL; Karen Pouliot and husband, Mike of NH; Donna Thompson and husband, John of MA; and Kim Reid and husband, Doug of NH.  She is also survived by four grandchildren Alyssa Fontaine, Monica Pauley, and Kristen & Joshua Reid;  two brothers, Brian & Denis Besner and one sister, Deanna Poirier of Canada and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday April 2, 2025 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Theresa’s Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday April 3, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Newburyport.
