Teresa M. (Snow) Bartley

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Teresa Bartley, on December 3, 2024, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, following a brief illness. She was 86 years old.

Teresa was born in Newburyport on January 21,1938 to Warren and Rita (Herlihy) Snow. She attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated in 1955 from Immaculate Conception High School in Newburyport. At that time she was employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph as a telephone operator.

On May 16, 1959, she married Daniel L. Bartley and over the next 6 years, they became parents to five children. She took a leave from the phone company to focus on raising her kids, which was a full-time job in itself.

When her children were older, Teresa returned to the phone company, retiring in 1995 to care for our dad, until his passing in 1996. She then became a caregiver to her own mom for several years. Her whole life mom put the needs of others before her own and her compassion and love were boundless.

Mom loved the home she built with our dad and lived in until she passed. She always considered herself a homebody and preferred the comfort of her own home to any place else.

She had a great sense of humor, which was necessary in our family, and faced the many challenges that came her way with grace and fortitude. Even at the end this held true, and mom left this earth as she wished and prayed for, surrounded by the love of her family.

God called her home in a most loving and compassionate way. Five days before her passing, she celebrated Thanksgiving with family, independent and full of life. Throughout the days that followed, she was surrounded by her family. She got to say goodbye to all of us, and we got to do the same while remaining by her side for every minute she had left on this earth. She passed peacefully and is now reunited with her husband, her family and all those she knew and loved throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Teresa was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L. Bartley; her brother, Daniel Snow; her son-in-law, Geoffrey Cyr. She leaves behind her five children and their spouses, Teresa (Bartley) and husband Mark Fournier of Tamworth, NH; Daniel Bartley and wife Debra of Kingston, NH; Louis Bartley and wife Brenda of Amesbury, MA; Monica (Bartley) and husband Patrick Bulger of Newburyport; Andrea (Bartley) Cyr of East Kingston, NH. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Teresa on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport. Burial will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Teresa’s family with her arrangements.
