On Monday, January 22, Heaven became a little brighter as Stephanie Marie Serwon (Engel) formally became an angel, ending her lifetime apprenticeship. Diagnosed with cervical cancer over five years ago, she remained positive and committed to her family until the very end. Stephanie’s personality and smile radiated happiness and compassion. She laughed loudly and often and spread joy without expecting anything in return. Her beautiful spirit will live on in her daughter who she absolutely adored and in the memories of countless people that she touched.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, she is survived by her husband of 6 years, Stephen Serwon and their beautiful daughter Camila (4) of Amesbury, MA; parents Paulina Engel and James Engel and brothers, Martin and Christopher of Roselle, IL; mother-in-law Cathy Serwon and father-in-law Bryan Cook, of Newton, New Hampshire. Stephanie also leaves behind many beloved friends, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Stephanie was born and raised in Texas and moved to Amesbury, MA in middle school. Amesbury quickly became the place she called home. She is a graduate of Amesbury High School and received her bachelors from Keene State. While in college, Stephanie and family moved back to her father's home town of Roselle, IL. She then began her career in hospitality while also caring for children in her neighborhood. Stephanie met her Stephen on a trip to Amesbury to visit her best friend. Soon after, the two were married and living around the corner from her family in Roselle. After welcoming their daughter they made the decision to move back to their roots and reside in Amesbury, the place they both felt the most at home. Stephanie spent her days raising and caring for Camila, “her legacy,” as she stated in her final days.
Family and friends are invited to Stephanie’s calling hours on Saturday January 27, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Services and burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Serwon Strong! go fund me page. Any donations will be put into an account to benefit Stephanie and Steve’s daughter Camila.
