Shirley A. (Kent) Marshall

Shirley (Kent) Marshall, 85, of Newburyport, MA, passed away on December 27, 2024, at Avita of Newburyport, surrounded by her family.

Born on August 3, 1939, in Tewksbury, Shirley was the daughter of the late Dalbert and Roselie (Gallant) Kent. She was the beloved wife of the late Gayden Marshall, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage before his passing.

Shirley was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Gayla Chase and her husband Steve of Danvers, and Julie Williams of Plaistow, NH and her late husband, Raymond. She was a grandmother to Bethany Osborne and her husband Brian, Amanda Chase and her fiancé Gio DiGiacomo, Christopher Williams, and Maggie Williams, and great-grandmother to Lucy and Lila Osborne. Shirley is also survived by her sister, Jane Merrill, and was predeceased by her sister, Patricia English.

Shirley will be remembered by her in-laws: Gordon and Judy Marshall, Andrea and Bruce Eaton, Sandra Gagnon, Najla Marshall, Gloria Williams, Paulene Marshall, Kathy Marshall, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Shirley loved spending time with family, going to Red Sox games, musicals, playing cards and going to the lake house.

After graduating Newburyport High, Shirley had a long career at the Institution for Savings for 36 years. She began her career in 1969 as a teller and retired as the Assistant Treasurer.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday January 2, 2024 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Her Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday January 3, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at Belleville Cemetery, with in Newburyport.
