Samuel Blunt, Jr. Obituary

Samuel Irving Blunt Junior, 91, of West Newbury, Massachusetts, passed away on August 11 2024, peacefully in his home that he shared with his loving wife Stella for more than 60 years.

Sam was born October 7, 1932 in Newburyport Massachusetts, the son of Samuel Blunt Sr. and Exilda Gammons.

Sam graduated from High School in 1950, then joined the Airforce in July 30 1951 and served until honorably discharged in July 29, 1955 as a Sergeant.

Sam married Stella Warcewicz in April 1954 at Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport.

After his military service Sam started his own company, SIBCO Inc., which is still in operation today. He retired in 1994 to enjoy his many hobbies. Sam especially loved fishing and gardening. He would often visit upstate New York where he kept a small cabin on Sandy Creek in Pulaski.

Shortly after retiring Sam and Stella renovated a camper van and took a four month cross country trip to Alaska. They also enjoyed making memories with their family at the camp they built in Island Pond, Vermont.

Remaining to cherish Sam’s memory are his loving wife Stella; children, Matthew and Steven and their spouses Lynne and Cindy; grandchildren, Amy, Stacy, Ben, Julie and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Stella, August, Bohdi, Mirabel and Pepper; sisters Harriet Sanuk, Beverly Weir and Suzanne Casey. Preceding Sam in death is his son Christopher Eric Blunt.

A private funeral was held in Newburyport. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Blunt’s family with his funeral arrangements.

Memorial donations in Sam’s memory may be directed to St. Jude's Hospital, a favorite charity that Sam supported throughout his life.
