Ronald “Ronnie” George Goss, passed away at his home on Wednesday January 24, 2024.
He was born and educated in Newburyport and was the youngest of four sons to Robert and Mary Goss.
Many of his years growing up on Merrimac St. were spent playing in the marshes along the river, taking the proud plunge of the Whittier Bridge and driving his car along the trails in the backyard.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pauline V. Goss. Polly was 13 and Ronnie was 15 when they first met, then life began. Daughters Erica Eaton and Beth Goss; granddaughters, Alyshia and Kylie Eaton; and son in law, Travis Eaton. He loved spending time with the family dogs over the years, in particular “The Whopper” Winston.
Ronnie was a avid collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia. Above all of his other passions, the most significant was being a Fire Fighter. Ronnie’s lifelong dream of serving as a Fire Fighter came true in 1978 for the City of Newburyport. Ronnie served the call for many years. He was proud and ready to serve anytime the alarm sounded.
Ronnie’s family wishes to offer many heartfelt thanks to all the Newburyport Fire Fighters and the Department.
