In Loving Memory of “Tony” Rodd Pereira
September 28, 1971 – September 15, 2025
Age 53
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of “Tony” Rodd Pereira on September 15, 2025, at the age of 53.
Born on September 28, 1971, Rodd "Tony" was a beloved son, brother, partner, great-uncle, and friend whose humor, warmth, and love touched everyone who knew him.
Rodd "Tony" was the devoted son of Eva Marisol Pereira and Pedro R. Pereira, and cherished brother of Pamela Pereira Johnston, Scarlett Sammons. As well as brother-in-law, Scott Johnston
He shared his life and love with his partner Darin Gethers of 25 years. Was treasured son-in-law to Betsy and David Gethers, as well as a beloved brother-in-law to Nathan and Ryan Gethers.
Above all, “Tony” Rodd was a proud and loving uncle to his nieces: Priscilla Johnston, Scarlett Johnston, Vanessa Pereira, and Savanna Sammons—bringing joy, encouragement, and laughter into their lives. He was also a proud great-uncle to Landen, Jayden, and Kayd'n who brought him much happiness.
He was deeply loved by his extended family, including his aunts and uncles: Tia Ana Pereira, Tio Juan Pereira, Tio Omar Reyes, Tia Christina Reyes, and Auntie Margarita Araya Pereira.
Rodd “Tony” had an extraordinary sense of humor and a smile and laugh that could light up any room—as if he were on camera. He would strike a pose like the star of the show, perfectly matching his vibrant personality. He was an enthusiast, a music lover, a gifted vocalist, a movie critic and had a fine ear to music.
Rodd "Tony" shared his passion for music with Darin Gethers, his sister Scarlett, and his niece Vanessa Pereira. He would fill their lives with harmony, laughter, and memorable moments.
If Rodd’s "Tony's" life could be summed up in one song, it would be Frank Sinatra’s classic, “My Way”—for he truly lived life on his own terms, unapologetically and authentically.
A memorial service to celebrate Rodd’s life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High Street, Newburyport, MA 01950. All who loved him are welcome to attend, share memories, and honor his remarkable life. Services and burial will be private at a later date.
Rest peacefully, Rodd “Tony!" You will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
