Robert John Yurkavich, 79, passed away early Saturday morning December 3, 2022 at his residence in Newburyport. He was born on January 2, 1943 in Methuen, MA to the late Charles and Margaret (Starke) Yurkavich. He was raised in Methuen and was a graduate of Tenney High School, where he was an exceptional baseball player.
Following his graduation Robert attended Wentworth Institute pursuing his degree in drafting. He then enlisted in the US Army and serverd our country proudly during the Korean War in the Military Police. Upon his return Robert was employed by Western Electric, now Lucent Technologies as a Draftsman until his retirement in 2001.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman, where he enjoyed spending time at his property in Maine. He camped, kayaked, hiked and loved gardening. He also lived in Hampton for a time and loved spending time on the beach collecting rocks. Above all spending time with his daughters and grandsons gave him the most pleasure.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Christine Fowler and her husband Douglas of Newburyport, and Jennifer Yurkavich of Newburyport; grandsons, Grayson and Braydon Fowler, sister, Patricia Weeks and her husband Peter of Portsmouth; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
