Robert Francis Tierney, 57, a resident of Newburyport, passed away Thursday morning May 26, 2022 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. He was born in Melrose, MA on December 5, 1964 to the late Thomas and Beverly (Savage) Tierney. Raised and educated in Reading, he was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School. Following his graduation Robert was employed as a Lineman for Verizon for over 30 years until his retirement in 2015.
He was a New England Sport Fanatic, attending as many events as possible and following his teams religiously, but Patriots season was what he looked forward to the most. He was kind hearted, easy going, and relished spending time with his adoring niece and nephews.

Tierney, Jr. and his wife Susan of Newburyport, and Elizabeth Burns and her husband Bryan of Marblehead; niece and nephews, Zach, Halle, Benjamin, Samuel, and Harry. In addition to his parents Robert was predeceased by his nephew Charlie Burns.
