Hampton, NH – Robert “Bob” Rose of Hampton, NH, formerly of Newburyport, died peacefully on April 16, 2026. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Tarbox) Rose, who passed on Oct. 16, 2005.
The son of the late Arthur and Helen (Norton) Rose, Bob was born and raised in Amesbury. He graduated from Haverhill Trade School in 1954. He moved to Newburyport, where he lived for 40 years and raised his children, before moving to Hampton in 1999 with his wife, Eleanor.
Bob’s first job was at General Electric, while also temporarily running the Tarbox Auto School. He later worked at Textron in Wilmington and Everett as a Senior Designer Draftsman for 38 years until his retirement. He also worked part-time at Geonautics in Newburyport.
The most important part of his life was his family. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. His hobbies included bowling, camping, swimming, reading, and doing word puzzles. Bob loved spending days at the beach with Eleanor and was a fan of all New England sports teams.
Bob leaves behind 5 children: Robert (Felicia) Rose, Michael (Nicky) Rose, Philip (Rebecca) Rose, Cathleen (Tim) Lawler, and Mary (Bob) Gilman. He was predeceased by his son, Douglas Rose, his granddaughter, Rochelle E. Rose, and his sisters, Sally, Patricia, and Maureen. He leaves 17 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Chris) Mackle, Alyson, Michael, Ashleigh (Nick) Chapman, Maria (Hunter) Preve, Olivia, Sarah, Hannah, Bethany, Patrick (Shannon), Connor (Jenna), Ryan, Douglas, and Katie Rose, Timmy (Kelly), Maggie, and Michael Lawler; and five great-grandchildren: Cameron & Caroline Mackle, Brooks Chapman, James Rose, and Olivia Lawler.
Family and friends are invited to Bob’s Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Friday April 24, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Rose’s family with his arrangements.
