Robert J. Campbell

Robert died peacefully at AdviniaCare in Newburyport, MA on Saturday July 20, 2024.

He was the son of the late Charles W. Campbell and Georgianna (Beauparlant) Campbell. He was the last survivor of his ten siblings. John Campbell, Marion Fila, Elizabeth Sarbanis Charles Campbell, Dorothy Campbell, Lorraine Merrill, Arlene April, Edward Campbell and Barbara Merrill. Robert loved family gatherings with his bothers and sisters.

Robert grew up in Newburyport and and was a graduate of Newburyport High School Class of 1945. He went on to get a Teaching degree from Saint Anslem College and a Master's degree from Boston College.

Robert got a Teaching position at Ashland High School in Ashland NH. teaching French and Latin. until his retirement in 1990. He also taught Hunter Safety for 26 years. He was an outdoors man loving hunting and fishing. Robert spent his time off in the Summer being a lifeguard. In the Summer of 1981 he was a lifeguard on Squam lake in Holderness NH. The movie On Golden Pond was being filmed that Summer and Robert became friends with the cast and crew. He loved telling this story to everyone he met.

He is survived by his niece Georgiannna Fazio and her husband Frank who was his care giver for the last ten years and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Robert’s Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Thursday July 25, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Campbell’s family with his arrangements.
