Richard John O'Brien

Richard J. O’Brien, 60, of Newburyport, passed away at home after a battle with cancer on March 7, 2022. Rich was born in Newburyport on January 23, 1962, the son of the late Robert and Gertrude (Leary) O’Brien. 

Rich graduated from Newburyport High School and Merrimack College. He recently retired from Fidelity Investments where he worked for the last 28 years. Rich enjoyed spending time with his family and could be found in the backyard tending to the garden.

Rich leaves behind his wife Jolene, and daughters, Katie of Boston, and Mary of Newburyport; brothers Robert and John and their families; along with extended family and many good friends. 

Family and friends are invited to Rich’s Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Monday March 14, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Church, burial following Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends are asked to go directly to Church if attending the Mass. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. O’Brien’s family with his arrangements.
