Reid A. Hoover, Jr.

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Reid A. Hoover Jr., who left us on March 9, 2026, at the age of 38. Born on May 10, 1987, in Newton, Massachusetts, Reid was a beacon of kindness and intellectual curiosity, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Reid was the beloved son of Irene and the late Reid Hoover Sr. He was was predeceased by his grandparents William and Mary Horrigan, C. Jackson and Joan Hoover, and uncles Richard and William Horrigan. He is survived by his aunt Mary Ann Hill, his uncle C. Jackson Hoover and aunt Kelli Hoover, cousins Jeffrey Horrigan and wife Robyn, Stacey Sealey,  Daniel and Robert Marcin and C. Jackson Hoover III and wife Dianna.  As well as his steadfast friends Ryan Hawkes, Jasmine and Herbie.

Reid's academic journey was as varied and enriching as his travels. A proud graduate of The Winchendon School, Reid furthered his education with an associate degree from Northern Essex Community College, followed by bachelor studies at Guttenburg College in Oregon. His thirst for knowledge led him to the University of King's College in Nova Scotia, Canada, and at the time of his passing, he was pursuing a Master's in Theology at ITI Catholic University in Trumau, Austria, a testament to his dedication to the study of the classics and theology.

A devoted member of St. Adelaide's Church, Reid found solace and community within its walls. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and enriching his journey. Reid's passion for literature and theology was matched only by his love of travel, which afforded him the chance to immerse himself in diverse cultures throughout Europe while studying in Austria. His compassionate nature and advocacy for the humane treatment of animals were evident in his vegetarian lifestyle, and his love for animals was unwavering.

Reid was known for his extraordinary kindness and ability to form friendships across borders, transcending cultural and geographical divides. His journeys with his father across the country were some of his most cherished memories, filled with laughter and discovery. A lover of the classics, Reid found joy in the works of Tolkien and Plato, as well as in theological discourse.

A memorial service celebrating Reid's life will be held on March 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Adelaide's Church, located at 708 Lowell St, Peabody, Massachusetts, followed by internment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport, Mass. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Hoover’s family with his arrangements.

Though Reid's earthly journey has concluded, his spirit endures in the hearts of those who loved him. His life was a testament to the power of kindness, intellectual pursuit, and the profound love of God and humanity. Reid will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for the joy and wisdom he brought into the world.
