Rachael Marie (DeMattia) Ferrandi

Rachael Marie DeMattia Ferrandi, age 65 of Salisbury, Massachusetts, sadly passed away on December 8, 2025 surrounded by family and friends. Her loving husband of 35 years, Salvatore Ferrandi kept a constant vigil during her time in the hospital.

Rachael was born on September 19, 1960, was raised in Revere, MA and graduated from Newman Preparatory School in Boston. She was the beloved daughter of Emily (Venturelli) and John DeMattia, cherished sister of Jane Thompson and her husband John Thompson of Fort Myers, Florida. She was also the cherished sister of Dr. John DeMattia and his wife Laura Ives of Marblehead, Ma. She leaves behind her devoted sons, Joshua Cambria, Noah Ferrandi and her adoring daughter Olivia Ferrandi all of Salisbury, Ma. In addition, she leaves her loving niece, Dr. Amanda Thompson Avila and her husband Ed, her loving nephew Jack Thompson and his wife, Gina, along with her cherished grandnieces and nephews Eddie, Gigi, Weston, Emily and Jakey all of Fort Myers, Florida

Rachael touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her courage, compassion, warmth, and unwavering support. She loved to help others and was known for her kindheartedness and generosity. She will be especially missed by her adoring sister, Jane with whom she spoke every day.

With her amazing and devoted husband, Salvatore Ferrandi at her constant side she bravely battled a rare but devastating muscle destroying autoimmune disease called Inclusion Body Myositis. There is no treatment and no cure for this affliction, but Rachael remained brave and hopeful in the face of incredible odds.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 5-8pm at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High Street, Newburyport, MA 01950. Her funeral mass will be celebrated the following day at 10 am at the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial is private.
