Philip "Phil" Gaeta Obituary

Philip “Phil” M. Gaeta of Melbourne, Florida, died October 10, 2024 at his home in Salisbury, MA. Phil was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 10,1940 to Girolomo Gaeta and Rosa (Lanzisera) Gaeta. Phil graduated from New York Institute of Technology with a BS in electrical engineering. He spent 35 years as an electric engineer, a passion he shared with his family and friends. He was deeply involved in his community, facilitating blood drives for the Red Cross and volunteering with the Knights of Columbus, in which he held the title of Fourth Degree Knight, the highest degree of membership. Phil had a brilliant mind and made many significant contributions to the field of telecommunications. But, he will be remembered most by his generous heart and unconditional love for his family. He was a loyal friend and an adored husband, father, brother and uncle. Loquacious and kindhearted, Phil lived a full life, brimming with travel around the world, adventures that he loved to share, unending political commentary, and unmatched pride and affection for his family. He was married to the love of his life, Carol (Esposito) Gaeta for 51 years. He was a beloved father to his three daughters and devoted “Pop” to his six grandchildren, who will remember him for his enthusiasm for life.

Phil is survived by his wife, Carol Gaeta, daughters, Roseanna and her husband Brandon, Gil and her husband John, Geri and her husband Jon; six grandchildren, Felicia, Cecilia, Cole, Lulu, Jack and Elliot, his sisters and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024  from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High Street, Newburyport, MA 01950. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday October 19, 2024 at Immaculate Conception, 42 Green St., Newburyport  01950, followed by a gathering at the Church. Burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation, the Epilepsy Foundation of New England and/or The Knights of Columbus
