Paul Reardon Obituary

Paul Edward Reardon, known fondly to so many as “Uncle Paul”, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, at High Pointe House in Haverhill.

Born and raised in Newburyport, Paul was a proud graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1968. Following high school, Paul answered the call to service by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He spent several meaningful years stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base before ultimately returning home to his beloved Newburyport roots.

Paul went on to enjoy a productive and successful career with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation. He took immense pride in maintaining the highest standards for the Massachusetts state park systems and found deep fulfillment in serving as a mentor to his fellow staff members.

Upon retiring, Paul relocated to Salisbury, where he successfully mastered the art of keeping busy. Whether he was volunteering his time for local organizations, hitting the links at golf outings like the annual Hackers’ Open in North Conway, or traveling across the country for sporting events with next-level tailgates, Paul lived life to the fullest. He was also notoriously excellent at “bouncing around” local spots in a lifelong, dedicated search for the coldest possible Miller Lite.

Paul was a fiercely loyal friend who surrounded himself with an equally devoted circle of companions; several of his dearest friends spent countless, comforting hours by his side during his final days.

As an uncle, he was unmatched. Uncle Paul and his famous one-liners will be deeply missed by his beloved brood of nieces, nephews, and their children, for whom he never once missed a birthday—or the opportunity to slip them some legendary “walking around money.”

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Margaret (Casey) and Edward Reardon, and his sister, Margaret Childs. Surviving him are his sisters, JoAnn Shoemake of Athens, TN, Mary Alice McLeod of Newburyport, and Elizabeth Pettingell of Newbury.

Per Paul’s strict wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, a fitting celebration of his vibrant life will be held at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Reardon’s family with his arrangements.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Portsmouth Regional Hospital and High Pointe House for providing an exceptional level of care, dignity, and comfort for Paul.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the 44/14 Fund – The Jeff Stone Foundation (www.4414fund.com).
