Paul J. Dobson passed away peacefully on September 12, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 17, 1942 in Methuen MA to Harry and Rita (Cronin) Dobson. He attended local schools and graduated from Central Catholic, class of 1960. During his school years Paul made many lifelong friends, maintaining contact through his social personality and membership in the Howard Associates. He enjoyed skiing and was an avid golfer at the Andover and Portsmouth Country Clubs, never missing on the 19th hole.
Paul earned his Batchelor Degree from Bentley University and then worked for Burlington Industries. In 1968 Paul was hired as a field agent for the Internal Revenue Criminal Division. This was his introduction to Law Enforcement. A profession of which he was very proud. After 25 years he retired as the liaison for the IRS and the Drug Enforcement Agency in New England. Later Paul was employed by the FBI as a special investigator meeting many interesting and well-known people.
Paul traveled to Ireland and vacationed in Aruba, Delray Beach, and his condo in Fort Myers FL.
Paul was preceded in death by his son Andrew “Dibba” Dobson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Susan (Shea) Dobson, who he met as a teenager, Sons Sean Dobson of Salisbury, Eric Dobson of Walnut Creek CA, his Granddaughter Maille Dobson of Salisbury and Grandson Liam Dobson of Derry NH, several nieces and nephews and close friends.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM to Noon on Saturday September 24, 2022 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. A time of remembrance will be held at 11:30 AM during the calling hours. Burial will be private at a later date. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT.
