Patrick “Pat” lost his courageous and hard fought seventeen-month long battle with pancreatic cancer on January 15th, 2024, at the age of 62. He passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, MA., surrounded by his family.
Patrick was born in Canton, Illinois, and attended college at Taylor University, where he played football. After college, he lived in multiple locations while building a career in Technology & Software Sales, before eventually settling down in 2004 with his family in Newburyport, MA.
Patrick was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed snowboarding and skiing, but had a particular passion for sailing, which he enthusiastically shared with his family and friends. His zest for life, along with his story telling and larger-than-life personality, will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. During his illness, Patrick found a renewed and deep faith in God and appreciation for life’s blessings. He truly will be missed.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, George Frederick Mulligan and Shirley Mulligan, (née Haughawout) whom he was deeply devoted to, his sister Shauna Mulligan, and his beloved dog, Vader, (truly man’s best friend). He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Margaret Mulligan, (née Leeds), and two sons, Ryan (20) and Lucas (17). He is also survived by his siblings, Stephen Mulligan, Kathy (Douglas Nafziger), Sean Mulligan, Erin (Ed Welcome), and many nieces and nephews.
The Mulligan family would like to express profound gratitude for the team at Dana Farber, especially, Dr. James Cleary, for their vigilant, kind and compassionate care during and after Patrick’s treatment.
Visitation will be held at Twomey, LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home on Sunday, January 21st from 2:00-5:00 pm located at 193 High Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
