Patricia “Patty” Marie Coffey passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025 in Newburyport MA.
Born August 29, 1946 at Anna Jaques Hospital, eldest of five children of Walter and Pauline Coffey.
Patricia was a lifelong nurse, an avid cook, photographer, shopper and world traveler. She was famous for her homemade pies which were purchased by local eateries and most notably recognized by the well renowned Yankee Magazine. She was featured twice in the magazine, including the 1980 Christmas Edition as one of the Great New England Cooks.
Patricia's interest in nursing began at a young age. After graduating Newburyport High school she attended Lynn Hospital school of Nursing and quickly after started as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency room at Anna Jaques. Shortly after leaving for a nursing position in Colorado for a brief period to only return to Anna Jacques where she continued her career until retirement.
Traveling was a passion, she enjoyed many trips to Europe, Hawaii, and many summers in Martha’s Vineyard. She also loved being near the water, residing for many years on Plum Island, Rings Island in Salisbury and frequented Hogg Island in the Parker River.
Patricia is survived by her four siblings, Marilyn McKeen of Newbury, Ma, Daniel Coffey and wife Susan of South Portland, ME, Gerald Coffey and wife Jacqueline of Atkinson, NH , Mary Ellen Arsenault and husband Robert of Newburyport, Ma. Along with many beloved Nieces, nephews and their children.
The family would like to thank the Nurses at Advinia Care Country Center in Newburyport and Compassus Hospice in North Andover for the loving and attentive care to Patty in recent years.
