Salisbury - Norman K. York, age 89, of Salisbury, Ma died at home on Sunday October 2, 2022. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia G. (Sheppard) York, who passed away in August 2012. They are finally reunited once again. They had been together for 54 years. He missed her and spoke of her everyday for the past 10 years.
Born in Newburyport on April 22,1933, he was one of seven children, of the late Gerald and Agnes (Dunne) York. He grew up in Newburyport and later moved to Salisbury.
Norman was drafted into the Army at the time of the Korean War conflict. The conflict ended right before he completed his time in the Army. When he returned home he went to work for Chase Shawmut. He worked there until he retired.
He had a passion for woodworking, making furniture for his home, family and friends; including making wooden toys and spending time with Pat making wooden Christmas Ornaments each year to give to family and friends. He especially enjoyed making ride on toys for his children and grandchildren. His passion, skill and level of detail will be carried on through each wooden train, car, truck and dollhouse he crafted.
He is survived by his sister Betsy (York) Hanscom; his children, Debra Notargiacomo and her husband Francis of Amesbury; Gale Theberge and her husband Daniel of Methuen; his sons, Jeffery York and his wife Kimberly of Georgia; and Richard York and his wife Elaina of Groveland. His grandchildren Aimee Notargiacomo, Elyssa Tiplady and husband Jonathan, Adam York and his wife Erika; Jay Collins and Daniel Theberge Jr. and wife Kelly. Great grandchildren Dean and Jameson Tiplady; Emmett, Ayveri and Everly Theberge. Many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings Robert, Richard, Marjorie, Geralynn, and Carlene; as well as his grandson, Jeffrey R. York.
Family and friends are invited to Norman’s Funeral Service at 10:30 AM on Thursday October 13, 2022 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. His burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT.
