Newburyport – Nicholas Guy Hopkin Richards, 70, of Newburyport, formerly of Hamilton, passed away at home on June 28 after a recent illness.
Nicholas was born in England on May 28, 1953. At the age of 14, he emigrated to Canada, and subsequently moved to Jackman, Maine. He graduated in 1975 from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and earned his Master’s Degree in Business from Salem State College. Nicholas enjoyed a successful career as a Nynex Yellow Pages advertising salesman. While always proud of his British heritage, one of his greatest accomplishments was becoming a US citizen.
Nicholas is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janine (Ventura) Richards of Newburyport, three daughters, Andrea and her son Joey, of Newburyport, Alexa of Newburyport, and Vanessa and her partner, Jeremy Onysko, of Portsmouth, NH, as well as his sister-in-law Valerie Ventura and her partner, Paul Benedict, of Hampton, NH. He will be remembered by many relatives and dear friends.
Nicholas enjoyed listening to music (especially Elton John, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones), discussing history and politics, and spending time with his grand-doggies, Agnes and Daphne. He was a car and airplane enthusiast, which is something he enjoyed sharing with Joey.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for the fall.
