Nancy Pfeiffer, 68, of Newburyport passed away Thursday June 10, 2021 surrounded by her family after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer.
The daughter of the late John and Christine Dow, Nancy was raised in Saugus MA eventually settling in Newburyport with her family after spending time in both Rockport MA and California. She was a dedicated public servant working as a special needs educator in the Newburyport school system for over a decade before retiring to focus on her true passion, being a doting “Nani” to her 5 grandchildren.
Nancy was one of a kind with a creative style all her own. She was as vibrant, bright and colorful as the art she loved to make. An avid painter, she spent countless afternoons creating masterpieces with her grandkids that she proudly displayed throughout the house. She also loved to visit local arts and craft fairs with her husband, where she would no doubt find some unique jewelry to add to her collection. Nancy was happiest near the ocean, even marrying on the beach of Rockport, MA. As a self-proclaimed sun-worshipper, she could often be seen driving to the beach in her signature Volkswagen Beetle with her sunroof open, even on the coldest of days, and usually staying long after the sun had set.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Jeffrey Pfeiffer and their 3 daughters, Jennifer Sackler of Seabrook, Erin Upton of Amesbury and Gretchen Pfeiffer of Newburyport. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Joshua Sackler (22), Emily Sackler (19), Kellan Upton (11), Finley Upton (8) and Cashel Hogan (4 mo).
Nancy’s family will be celebrating her life with a private service at Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in honor of Nancy Pfeiffer.
