Michael John O'Donnell, III

Michael “Mike” John O’Donnell III, 61, of Newburyport, MA, passed away on March 19, 2026, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA with his family by his side. He was born on April 2, 1964 to Michael “Mickey” O’Donnell Jr. and Kathleen (McGonigle) O’Donnell in Everett, MA. Michael graduated from Everett High School, Salem State University, the University of Massachusetts Boston, and New England Law | Boston.

He married Susan (Tully) O’Donnell on June 14, 1997, and they were blessed by a son, Michael O’Donnell IV, in 2001, and a daughter, Laura O’Donnell, in 2004. He retired after working for the Middlesex Sheriff's Office in Billerica, MA for over 30 years. Michael enjoyed biking, basketball, reading, walking his dog Sami, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved animals, enjoyed time outdoors, hiking and family vacations throughout New England. Michael was a kind, friendly, hard-working, dependable, easy going and intelligent man who will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Michael is survived by his spouse, Susan (Tully) O'Donnell, and children, Michael O’Donnell and Laura O'Donnell. He is also survived by his mother Bonnie O'Donnell, brother Scott O’Donnell, nephew Nealon O’Donnell, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including his best friend Bob Sansone. His parents, Michael “Mickey” O’Donnell and Kathleen (McGonigle) O’Donnell, predeceased him.

Twomey, LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. At Michael’s request, a formal service will not be held. Instead, there will be a private “Celebration of Life” at a later date.
