Newburyport – Maureen H. Lagasse, 88, a resident of Newburyport, died on March 24, 2021 at High Pointe Hospice House with her loving children by her side.
Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Margaret (Lynch) Pothier. She was raised and educated in Bradford and was a lifelong member of Sacred Hearts Parish in Bradford and Immaculate Conception Parish in Newburyport. She was a proud graduate of the Class of 1950 from Haverhill High School. After high school she worked at Western Electric in North Andover and for her brother Attorney Robert Pothier in Bradford.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and great grandmother, her family and friends were her life. Maureen was an incredible hostess, and everyone felt welcomed at her home and parties. She loved gardening, cooking, and needlework. Maureen found the good in all people and her kindness was always felt. She loved being a part of the Immaculate Conception Parish and spent many Sundays delivery communion to Anna Jaques Hospital patients and to community members who were not able to attend church services.
She was the wife of the late Charlie Lagasse Sr who passed away on May 8, 2013 and is survived by her children; Chuck Lagasse Jr. and his wife Ann, Michael Lagasse and his wife Niki, Lauren Hefferan and her husband John, and Kevin Lagasse and his wife Ellen, all of Newburyport. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Megan and husband Brandon Washington, Charlie Lagasse, Robbie and Greg Lagasse, Callie and husband Billy Eiserman, Paige Hefferan, and Lizzy and Kevin Lagasse Jr and two precious great grandchildren: Perri Eiserman and Eli Washington along with several generations of beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Suzanne Bracci and her husband Pete of Plaistow, NH and her brother Bob and his wife Susann of Bradford, MA. She was predeceased by her brother Harvey Pothier and his wife Carol and her sister Marilyn Jackson and her husband Whit.

Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church and Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery was held privately. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Lagasse’s family with her funeral arrangements.
