Mary E. (Prescott) Kiggins of Salisbury, formerly of Newburyport, passed away at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport on June 26, 2023. She was the daughter to the late Lucylle E. (Holmes) and Earl R. Prescott, sister to the late Frank Prescott and loving wife of John R. “Jack” Kiggins, who she stood side by side with as he fought brain cancer until his passing in 2002. Mary was a 1965 graduate of Newburyport High School and furthered her education at Chandler Secretarial School in Boston.
Post-graduation Mary was employed by Boston University as a secretary in their athletic department and held positions with the Sweetsir School in Merrimac and the Salisbury Public Library before accepting a position in 1992 as office manager for SPS New England, Inc., a role in which she loved and forged many lifelong friendships even after her retirement in 2012.
Mary is survived by her two boys Matthew E. Kiggins, his wife Kristin J. Kiggins, and their two children Taylor and Jack of Chelmsford and Michael L. Kiggins of Castle Rock, Colorado as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was a lover of Yankee Homecoming, time spent on the beach, travels with her cousins and friends, watching her adoring grandchildren’s dance recitals and athletic events and the largest lobster roll she could get her hands on. She was an angel on earth, always kind, a woman devoted to her family, and lots of fun to share time with. She had many lifelong friendships though her greatest love of all was her family. She was never shy to tell her friends and cousins how proud she was of them.
Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday July 2, 2023 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday July 3, 2023 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church followed by burial at St, Mary’s Cemetery, both in Newburyport.
