Mary Fosillo Obituary

Mary A. (Zammitti) Fosillo, 95, of Newburyport passed away on March 1, 2021 at Vero Healthcare and Rehab in Amesbury. She was the wife of the late Louis Fosillo who passed away in 1999. Mary was born in Wakefield the daughter of the late Emanuele and Anna Maria (DeMartino) Zammitti. Mary was a graduate of Wakefield High School, class of 1943. In 1949 she married her husband Louis and moved to Newburyport. She worked in the offices of area shoe shops and with her late husband, owned and operated for 25 years, Lake Massasecum Casino, Park, Campground and Picnic Area in Bradford, NH. Together Mary and Louis travelled to a different state every year for a reunion of members of Louis’ Sea Bee Comrades which she continued to do until very recently. She attended the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Newburyport.

Besides her husband she is predeceased by her siblings, Josephine White, Anne Garfi, Concetta Garfi, Salvatore Zammitti, Michael Zammitti, and Raymond Zammitti. Mary is survived by her loving family, step-daughter Judith Stanley, step grandchildren Dawn Nelson and husband, Charles, Kellie Quinn, Mary Jane Flanagan and husband, Michael and Henry Stanley; 8 step great grandchildren and 4 step great great grandchildren, who were all a joy in her life. She also leaves several loving and caring nieces and nephews, Janice Green, Virginia Famisan, Victoria Glynn, Salvatore Zammitti, Michael Zammitti, Carolyn Cali, Mary Fordham and Jean Fosillo. 

Mary’s calling hours and Funeral Mass will be private. Family and friends are invited to her committal service and burial at St. Mary Cemetery in Newburyport on Friday March 5, 2021 at 11:30 AM. Social distancing and Covid protocols will be mandated. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Fosillo’s family with her arrangements. There will be a celebration of Mary’s life announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
