Marjorie Perry (Wysong) Maguire was born in Roxbury August 5, 1933 the daughter of Agnes Perry George and Cecil J. Wysong.
Margie, a lifelong resident of Newburyport and a proud 1951 graduate of Newburyport High School was both a mother and proud housewife who dedicated herself to her children and her husband of 45 years, Jim Maguire who passed in 2022.
As the years progressed her most important need was that her children be together, and they were. The great majority of her life was spent making a loving home at 31 Collins Street where she created a place where visitors were welcomed to sit and talk and drink coffee.
Margie was always surprised and pleased by the success of each of her children. She attended all their special school events with great enthusiasm. Her dinners were always on the table by 4 pm and she made the most of what she had, always for her children first.
She was proud of her Perry name and always spoke glowingly of her Perry grandparents and the home they created when she was young.
Margie was predeceased by Jim, her brother Jack Wysong, her sister Linda George, her mother Agnes and stepfather Ivan George, her father Cecil Wysong, her young son John Malenfant and baby Christopher Malenfant.
Margie was always the ‘queen’ at family events taking a prominent seat so the family could see her, be with her, and entertain her. Margie is survived by her children Stephen Malenfant (Kathy), her daughter Betsy Malenfant (Wayne Durkee) and her son Neil Wile (Tammy). She also leaves her grandchildren Nicole Landry (Sean), Jaime Jankowski (Tony), Michael Short (Erin ), Cooper and Parker Wile. In addition, Margie is survived by her great grandchildren Donovan, Trevor, and Jacoby Landry; Osiris, Odin, and Orion Jankowski as well as Connor and Joel Short. She was also survived by her special sister in law Katherine Wysong and special niece Majja Dennis (Jeff) and grandnephews Brendan Dennis and Colin Dennis.
Margie was also predeceased by her husband Truman Wile Sr. as well as Truman Wile Jr. and Robert Wile, her stepsons. She is also survived by her stepdaughters Judy Wile and Jackie Gordon.
She embraced all members of her extended Maguire family, Wile family and Malenfant family. Her house was open to all the friends of her children throughout her life. There was always humor in her home and she certainly earned the title of being ‘a hoot and a holler’.
Her special group of friends in life included Larry and Jean Twomey, Verna Hartman, and Nancy Wile as well as all the friends she grew up with in her younger years.
We would like to thank the amazing staff at the Elizabeth Calsey House for what they have done for our mother the past three years. You will be in our hearts forever. We can never put into words what you meant to her and us, Margie’s family. We would also like to thank the people at the Kaplan House in Danvers for their gentle care for her last weeks.
Private Graveside Services will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Maguire’s family with her arrangements.
