Marjorie E. Howard, age 79, life-long resident of Newburyport, passed away Monday morning, February 12, 2024, at the Country Manor Nursing Home after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born in Newburyport on March 26, 1944, Margie was one of six children of the late Charles and Margaret (Murphy) Howard. Margie attended Newburyport schools. After high school Margie was employed at Chase Shawmut/Gould Shawmut where she worked for 37 years until her retirement.
After her retirement, Margie spent most of her time caring for her mother as well as other elderly members of her family. Prior to her illness she was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Margie is survived by her sister, Charlene Reilly, of Newburyport, brothers Thomas Howard and wife Michelle of Newbury, James Howard and wife Judy of Amesbury, nieces Jennifer Reilly, Susan Howard, Karen Brickett Reilly, nephews James Howard Jr, William Howard, TJ Howard, Chad Howard, Joe Reilly. She was predeceased by her brothers Charles, Lawrence Howard, and niece Kim Dow.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday February 17, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Green Street, Newburyport, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Ms. Howard’s family with her arrangements.
