Margaret Morrison Stewart Fay passed away on March 22, 2022, at Academy Manor in Andover, MA at the age of 79 after a battle with dementia. Margaret was born in Aberdeen, Scotland to Charles and Henrietta Stewart. She moved to Springfield, MA with her parents and sister Etta when she was a girl and graduated from Commerce High School in Springfield in 1961.
Margaret worked as a home health aide and became close with many of her clients. She was proud of her Scottish roots, and true to that heritage, nothing could keep her down for long. She enjoyed eating Scottish shortbread cookies and mince meat pies any time she could. She loved the ocean and enjoyed painting, knitting and going on long walks every day, no matter the weather.
Margaret is survived by her children David Desilets and his wife Carol of Hull, MA, Laurie Viglietta of Newport News, VA, Greg Clark and his wife Marsha of Springfield, MA and Christine Orpin and her husband Bill of Newbury, MA; her sister Etta Bateson and her husband Peter of South Gloucestershire, England; her niece Cherie Ingsley and her husband Jonathan of Bristol, UK; her grandchildren and great grandchildren and estranged husband Thomas Fay of Springfield, MA. She is predeceased in death by her son Michael Desilets of Chicopee, MA and her parents and step-mother Isabel Stewart of Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Academy Manor in Andover and Country Center in Newburyport for their dedication.
Margaret’s life will be remembered in a small private ceremony at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home is assisting Mrs. Stewart Fay’s family with her arrangements.
