Margaret Jane Greene (Greene) Keohane

Margaret Jane Greene Keohane died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on January 7, 2022, at age 91.  Peg was a most loving, selfless and generous mother, grandmother "Gaga" and friend.

Peg was born in Rochester, NY in 1930, the daughter of Irene (Driver) Greene and James Burdette Greene.  She was a graduate of Rochester’s John Marshall High School (1948) and St. Lawrence University (1953), where she especially enjoyed her Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.  Peg spent six years working in Manhattan for RCA before marrying and raising children. After settling in Medfield MA, Peg returned to work in 1972 at Barnes & Jones and later in the admissions departments of Babson College and Milton Academy.  Peg enjoyed knitting, reading and was an avid crossword puzzle solver. With a keen intuition, she was a voracious self learner interested in life's deeper mysteries. By far her greatest joy was her family. After retirement, Peg was a very involved and devoted grandmother, living abroad with family in Ecuador and New Zealand, She eventually settled with family in Newburyport, where she enjoyed a rich full life for 20 years filled with volunteering, adventures, friends and family. 

Peg is predeceased by her ex-husband Philip M. Keohane and his wife Dorothy Land. She is survived by her three children Michael of Fairfield, CT and his wife Elizabeth Kopp, Kerry of Newburyport, MA, and Karen of Amesbury, MA and her husband Matthew Sharlot. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Lucy Keohane, Hannah Keohane, Emma Whalen and Finnian Whalen.

Peg leaves many beloved family and friends, hoping they can live life as Peg did - being ever present, thoughtful and kind.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Unity.org.
