Louise Beck Obituary

Louise Gee Beck passed away in Danvers, MA. on August 28 after a four-year struggle with ovarian cancer. She had recently turned 68 on August 17th.

Louise was raised in Providence, Rhode Island by Dr. Irving and Edith Beck with her three siblings, Dr. Barbara Beck, Ruth Beck and the late Stephen Beck.

A graduate of Boston University and Smith College of Social Work, Louise was awarded the first social work fellowship offered by Massachusetts General Hospital.

Louise was a dedicated psychotherapist who cared deeply about her clients. She was a good listener, easy to talk to, and her commitment to helping others guided her in life. Her areas of expertise included Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness. Louise founded Beck Cognitive Therapy Associates with her husband John Longo in Amesbury, MA.

With the support of her husband and children Spencer (Alana) and Allison, Louise’s fierce determination enabled her to live a full life while being treated for cancer. Traveling and spending time with friends and family was paramount. She visited many places in the past few years and always came away with new friends. Throughout her life, Louise kept a positive attitude and always maintained her sense of humor.

Family and friends are invited to her graveside service at Oakhill Cemetery in Newburyport on Tuesday September 1, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Family has requested that masks be worn and social distancing guidelines be practiced at the cemetery. Please use the Parker Street Entrance.
