LORRAINE BARBARA CONNELLY (Formerly of Peabody) Newbury, MA.
Lorraine Connelly, 86, of Plum Island, died peacefully while surrounded by family on January 29, 2026 due to pneumonia. Lorraine was born on August 5, 1939 in Lynn, MA to Leo and Dorothy Cormier. She was the oldest of 3 children and graduated from Lynn Classical, 1937. She then met Daniel Connelly at the NH Hochflieger Ski Club, marrying the love of her life two years later in 1960. They raised three sons in Peabody while she owned and operated Hearts-&-Flowers and he taught US History at Peabody High School.
In their retirement, they moved to Plum Island in 1998 and enjoyed traveling the world. In 2006, Lorraine, Dan, and son Michael bought The "Thirsty Whale" and operated the local pub until 2015 with Steve Jewett.
Lorraine loved painting the natural beauty of Plum Island on canvas and always enjoyed her walks on PI Beach with husband Dan until his death in 2006.
Lorraine is survived by her loving sons Daniel III of LA and wife Stephanie; David of Newbury and twin granddaughters Davan and Zoie Connelly; brother Leo of Haverhill; sister Peggy McCullough of Wakefield; and cherished sisters-in-law Alice Tracchia and Kathleen Connelly of Peabody. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews. Lorraine is predeceased by her husband Daniel Jr., son Michael, and sister-in-law Dorothy Little.
A "Celebration of Life" will be open to friends and family this Friday at the PITA Hall (2/6/26) from 6:00 to 11:00 PM 8 Plum Island Turnpike, Newbury, MA. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Connelly’s family with her arrangements.
