Linda O’Brien, 75, of Newburyport, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2020 with her family by her side following a courageous 15 month long battle with ovarian cancer. Linda was born to the late Daniel F. and Evelyn (Brady) Sullivan on October 13, 1944 in Newburyport. She was raised and educated in Newburyport and attended the Immaculate Conception School. She graduated from Newburyport High School in 1962 and went on to continue her education at Lynn Burdett College in Lynn, Massachusetts, graduating with a degree in Accounting.
She was the Assistant Treasurer at the Newburyport Co-operative Bank for several years. She married Tom in 1977 and when her daughter Katie was born she decided to stay at home to raise her. Eventually she went to work at the Newburyport 5 Bank as the Bookkeeper for 22 years and retired in 2007 when her grandson Tommy was born.
Linda is survived by her loving husband Tom O’Brien, her best friend and daughter Katie (O’Brien) Chase, her son-in-law Todd and her grandson Tommy Chase who was the absolute love of her life. She is also survived by her sister Judy Sullivan and by her brother Danny Sullivan and his companion Mary Alice Burokas. She also leaves behind her nephew Scott Sullivan and his wife Keri; and their children Kaylie and Jack; her nephew Sean Sullivan and his wife Alex; and their children Will and Jake. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Karen Sullivan. Linda had many joys in life but her biggest joy was to spend time with her loving family.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions services and burial will be private. A Memorial Mass at Immaculate Conception Church will be announced at a later date, when all family and friends may join together and celebrate Linda’s life.
