Linda A O’Keefe, 78, passed away Sunday November 6, 2022 at her home in Newbury. Born in Boston and raised in West Roxbury Massachusetts. She took great pride in being a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph High School, “The Mount”, and went on to graduate from Chandler’s Business School. After becoming a mom and owning a home as a single woman in Wellesley she put herself through college at Umass Boston. Linda moved her family, buying her second home in 1978, to Newburyport; a place she had fond childhood memories.
She had numerous jobs over the past 45 years, including spending seven years working on Nantucket. Linda was most known for her position as an administrative assistant at the Newburyport Mental Health Center, and later as nurseryman at Cressey’s farm in Rowley.
She enjoyed the ocean, music, and the arts in the area. Linda’s love for her family was never ending.
She leaves behind her son David R. O’Keefe, and his wife Kate, of Natick, and her daughter Michelle A. (O’Keefe) Merrill of Stratham NH, along with her two grandsons, Ashton of West Boylston, and Cameron, and his fiancé Jenna of Milford. She loved her title of Aunt Lin for her numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Linda leaves behind her sister-in-laws Audrey and Enda, and her cousin Barbara, who she shared a lifetime of memories with. She felt blessed to have meaningful friendships with many. Linda had a fiery spirit and a huge heart. Her favorite place to spend time was at church. She enjoyed Mass at the Immaculate Conception and Star of the Sea, where she genuinely prayed for everyone.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services, per her wishes. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. O’Keefe’s family with her arrangements. Her family will gather at a later date to celebrate her life for all to be welcome. Linda will be laid to rest with her parents, Edna M. and Edward F. Galvin, and brothers Edward and Thomas, at Saint Joseph’s in West Roxbury. She would greatly appreciate a little prayer from all.
