Laurie (Fitzgerald) D'Arcy

Laurie (Fitzgerald) D’Arcy, Passed away on her 91st birthday, Sunday June 25, 2023 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. She was born in Dublin, Ireland on June 25, 1932 to the late Robert and Kathleen (Roberts) Fitzgerald. She was raised and educated in Ireland, before her immigration to the United States in 1959. 

Laurie married her husband Joseph D’Arcy in 1956 and the couple settled in Salisbury, Massachusetts to raise their family. She was primarily a homemaker until her children had grown. She was employed at Arlene’s Dress Shop in Salisbury for several years as well as Gould Electronics as a an Inspector.

She was involved in many organizations over the years, including the Friends of the Salisbury Council on Aging, the Women’s Division 1 Hibernians of Newburyport, the Star of the Sea Church Choir for over 53 years, a member of the “Happy Hookers” knitting club, and she volunteered at the Salisbury Senior Center.

 Laurie is survived by her husband Joseph D’Arcy of Salisbury; and their children, Ann D’Arcy-James, Marie Kent, Kathleen Hall and Matthew D’Arcy; grandchildren, Darcy James, Morgan James, Colin James, Ryan Kent, Shane D’Arcy, Michael James, Joshua D’Arcy, and Kaitlin James.  She was one of nine siblings with many nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Mrs. D’Arcy’s wishes, services and burial will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting with her arrangements.
