Judith M. (Hixson) Zima

Judi departed peacefully after a short but courageous fight with cancer. Her spirit and memories of numerous kindnesses, laughs, sharing and loving will remain with all of us who knew her.

Born in California, living in Michigan and settling in the Newburyport area brought her many loves and adventures along the way, from camping to fishing to her nemesis “of being on a boat at the mouth of Merrimack river in an easterly”. She worked in the electronics industry both in California at Signetics and Rochester Electronics in Newburyport where she was highly respected by management and co-workers.

Her retirement gave her the opportunity to watch the birds, chase the pesky squirrels away, plant and nurture flowers that reflected her brightness and enjoying a campfire in the yard with friends and Pugsley and Daphne, the “d.o.g’s who were an absolute joy and source of amusement.

Judi is predeceased by her parents, Mary and Walter J. Zima, her husband Conrad Hixson and her brother Walter J. Zima Jr. She is survived by her sisters Kathleen Silveira, CA and Marianne Zima, NV her children Lee Hixson and Christina Hixson of CA, her grandchildren and many nieces, nephews. She leaves all of us who traveled and shared her life with the knowledge it was a very special bond that will always be cherished.

Her light has dimmed but her wings are soaring.

Judi’s wishes were for her family and friends to share a toast and a memory in their own way with people they love. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Zima’s family with her arrangements.
