Judith E. (Sweeney) Anderson of Amesbury, passed away peacefully from Parkinson’s disease at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport, MA on Thursday, September 3, 2020. She was 75 years old. Judy was born, raised, and educated in Malden. She was the loving daughter of the late John and Ruth Sweeney; sister of the late Ruthie (Sweeney) Brooks and late Norman Sweeney; mother of the late Ronald W. Anderson, and grandmother to the late Christopher Kench. Fondly known as “Gramcracker” to friends and family, Judy worked for many years as a Medical Assistant in the field of obstetrics/gynecology. After relocating to Amesbury in 2006, she found her dream job at Carr Island Animal Hospital in Newburyport where she worked for several years through 2019. Judy will be remembered for her love of animals, particularly cats, having provided a loving home to many rescued strays with special health needs. She also enjoyed taking care of her plants and doing projects around her home, but she especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren, whether it be attending their sports activities or making sand castles at Plum Island Beach. She was often seen making her own karate chop moves in the background at her grandson’s karate practice. Judy will also be lovingly remembered for her great sense of humor, her generosity and her never-ending supply of gram crackers that she stashed away in the many bags that she carried. Judy is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Laurie Anderson Kench and Stan Kench; her four precious grandchildren, Rebecca and James (J.T.) Kench and Kayleigh and Max Anderson; and her loving niece, Diana Rogers.
A private memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Judy will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church located on Green Street in Newburyport, MA. Due to COVID-19, we are unable to provide the date and time of the service. Please kindly contact Judy’s daughter, Laurie Kench, via email (laurie.kench@prodevinc.com) if you would like to attend.
