Josephine A. Minalio, 77, died on Friday morning September 18, 2020 at her home in Newburyport. She was the daughter of the late Loretta and Frederick Minalio, born on December 4, 1942 in Newburyport. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and the Stenotype Institute of Boston.
Josephine retired from the Social Security Administration after 36 years of service. Upon her retirement she volunteered at Anna Jaques Hospital and enjoyed her many years there. She was a member NARFE chapter 1568 for Federal retirees. She loved working in her garden and being outdoors especially joining her friends at the boardwalk.
Josephine is survived by her former husband Richard Ziegra of Sunnyvale, CA. She treasured her many cousins including Carol Ann Doyle of Newburyport, who was like a sister to her, Kathy Rogers of Hampton, NH, and Margaret Mears of Kingston, NH. Jo loved living in her family home on Highland Avenue where her neighbors, the Vartebedians, were family to her. She was predeceased by her longtime friend and companion Jedrey Connors of Newburyport.
Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Thursday September 24, 2020 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. THERE IS NO LONGER ANY PARKING AVAILABLE BEHIND THE FUNERAL HOME PER ORDER OF THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT. Her Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church and Burial at St. Mary Cemetery will be private.
