Joseph B. Murphy

Joseph B Murphy Jr., 82, of West Newbury, MA, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024 with his family by his side.

Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years Beverly, their children Patrick, Matthew and Colleen, his grandson Joseph and his granddaughter Emilia. He also leaves behind his daughter-in-law Lisa and his nephew Edward St. Charles.

Joe was born on Sept. 8, 1941 in Danvers MA to the late Joseph and Margret Murphy of Danvers MA.

Joe attended St. John's Prep High School in Danvers, MA, Boston College and then Boston State for his masters degree. He began his career as a math teacher at both Newburyport and Medford High Schools before becoming a negotiator, mediator, arbitrator for the Massachusetts Teachers Association until his retirement.

Joe was a generous, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. A prolific gardener and an avid sports fan who also had a deep love for the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival.

A life long parishioner of St, Anne's Church in West Newbury, MA, Joe was deeply involved in the local community. As a member of the Exchange Club of Greater Newburyport, MA, he played  a key role organizing various events for the local community and charities throughout the years.

There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High Street Newburyport, MA 01950. Guests are invited to join the family after the Memorial Service for food and refreshments from 12:30 at the Tuscan Sea Grill and Bar 38R Merrimac St., Newburyport, MA 01950.
