Joseph T. D’Arcy passed away peacefully on October 21,2024 at the age of 94 years surrounded by his family. He was born in Dublin, Ireland on September 26, 1930 to the late Matthew and Anne D’Arcy. He was raised and educated in Ireland, before his immigration to the United States in 1959 with his wife Laurie.
Joseph married Laurie in 1956 and the couple settled in Salisbury, Massachusetts to raise their family. Joseph began his working career in Boston, working on the construction of the Prudential building. He spent most of his career as a machinist and enjoyed his many years of employment at both the Bartley Co. and Honeywell Corp.
In his youth he was an avid runner and bicyclist. These interests took him around the European continent and was the foundation of his athletic life style. Joe’s sense humor was enjoyed by all that knew him. His stories and jokes will be remembered fondly by his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed dancing and spending time with his wife. Joe and his wife were members of the Newburyport Hibernians, and were proud of their Irish heritage.
Joseph is survived by his children; Ann D’Arcy-James, Marie Kent, Kathleen Hall, and Matthew D’Arcy. As well as his grandchildren; Darcy James, Morgan James, Colin James, Ryan Kent, Shane D’Arcy, Michael James, Joshua D’Arcy, Kaitlin James. He was one of 10 siblings with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. D’Arcy’s family with his arrangements.
