Joseph Andrew Blanchard, passed away early Saturday morning February 4, 2023 at Beverly Hospital. He was born in Newburyport on September 17, 1942 to the late Francis and Mary (Arsenault) Blanchard. Joe was raised and educated in Newburyport, following his education he enlisted in the U.S Navy and served our country proudly until his honorable discharge in November of 1964. He was employed shortly at CBS Hytron before entering into the field of construction. He was employed for many years as a Union Pile Driver for Local 56. He was then employed as a Custodian for Newburyport High School until his retirement in 1996.
Joseph was was a lifelong member of the North End Boat Club as well as the Newburyport Elks, where he was an active on their Veterans Committee. He enjoyed golfing and traveling, especially to Hawaii where he had visited 9 times.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Donna (Stewart) Blanchard of Newburyport; daughter, Michele (Blanchard) Webber of Newburyport; grandchildren, Codi and Brandon Doucette; brother, Donald Blanchard and his wife Cheryl of GA; sister-in-law, Jean Blanchard of Rowley; brother-in-law, Ronald Francour of Amesbury; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Blanchard; and siblings, Marie Blanchard Francour, John Blanchard and Francis “Doc” Blanchard.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday February 9, 2023 at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950. His Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday at 10:00 AM followed by burial in the Veterans section of Old Hill Cemetery in Newburyport.
