John B. Letizia Obituary

John B. Letizia (Giovanni Battista Letizia) - Salisbury, MA

John passed away peacefully with loving family by his side on September 14, 2021 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport.  John was born in New York, NY and raised in Queens, son of the late Joseph and Lena (Contrino) Letizia.   He later moved to VT to eventually retire in a log cabin built in Bakersfield for he and his wife of 30 years.  Husband of the late Marlene A. (Kaufmann) Letizia, John later moved to be closer to his daughters in MA.  John most loved spending time with family, laughing, talking, and having meals together.  He was a history buff, loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and birding.  He was a big NY sports fan, much to the dismay of friends he made in Salisbury.  John always worked hard and would do anything for his family.  He was strong-willed, opinionated and independent.  When John became unable to live alone safely due to Parkinson’s Disease, his family cared for him and made sure he had resources and supports to remain at home until his passing.  The family especially wishes to thank Janela, Dioseni, Maria, Rosalinda, and Patty for the care and love they showed him.  John is the father of Linda Letizia of Exeter, NH, Joseph Letizia and wife Hong of Prescott Valley, AZ, and Ann (Letizia) and husband Michael Morrison of Salisbury, MA.  He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Stefan and Josephine, a sister, Katherine, and several nieces and nephews.  John is predeceased by his sister, Mary.

There are no local calling hours or funeral services.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date, where he will join his wife Marlene once again in VT.
