John P. Golden Jr., a resident of Salisbury, MA, passed away unexpectedly in his home on July 13, 2022 at the age of 74. He was born February 9, 1948, in Salisbury to the late John P. Golden Sr. and Rebecca (Hunt) Ford.
John was a hard working, comedic, and very charitable man. One of his first jobs was working at Brown’s Lobster Pound in Salisbury before taking employment at Towle Manufacturing in Newburyport where he worked for many years becoming a silversmith and serving as the union president for a time. Following the closure of Towles he shifted career fields to one of agriculture becoming a warehouse manager for Dodge’s Agway in Plaistow, NH from where he retired in 2010.
Following his retirement he gave tirelessly of himself to the local area and could often be found mowing the grass or clearing leaves on the Salisbury Rail Trail during the summer and fall months. He also developed a love for travel and was frequently on the road with his wife Margaret visiting numerous national and international sites. While at home, his daily five mile walks to Panera Bread for his morning coffee were known by many and his presence in the early morning hours on the streets of Newburyport will be missed.
He is survived by his two sons; Patrick J. Golden and his wife Kimberly of Berlin, NH with their children Chloe and Brooke and Timothy P. Golden and his wife Patricia of Yokusuka, Japan with their children Robin, Rebecca, Jessica, and Alex (AJ). He is further survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Margaret R.
