Family and friends are invited to Jack’s Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Tuesday February 24, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church.

 

 

John “Jack” Boothroyd, 81, a resident of Newburyport died January 29, 2026 at Brigham Heath and Rehabilitation in Newburyport. He was born in Amesbury on June 28, 1944 to the late Harold F. Boothroyd, II and Mary (Perkins) Boothroyd. He was a proud graduate of Immaculate Conception Grammar and High School.

Following his graduation Jack enlisted in the US Army, and served until his honorable discharge in 1967. He was then employed by the United States Postal Service for 30 years as a Letter Carrier taking care of the Newbury route until his retirement.

Jack was a distinguished Boy Scout Leader, named Leader of the Year and organized and attended several Scout Pilgrimages to New Mexico, as well as a Coach for the Towle A team in the Pioneer League for 4 years. He was also a lifelong member, past president, and administrator of the Newburyport Lodge No 1601 Loyal order of Moose. When he was able Saturday nights were spent at the Park Lunch eating Baked Haddock with family and friends.

His family would like to thank the Staff at Brigham Health and Rehabilitation for the tremendous care and compassion given to Jack during his time with them. They will be forever grateful.

Jack is survived by his brother, Harold Boothroyd, III; sister in law, Kathy Boothroyd; niece and nephews, Dennis, Shawn, and Jennifer Boothroyd; cousins, Steve Perkins and Katie Perkins-Sloan; as well as his good friend and roommate at Brigham, Brad Heath. He was predeceased by his brothers Larry, Henry, and Doug Boothroyd.

Family and friends are invited to Jack’s Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Tuesday February 24, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial with military honors will be private at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Boothroyd’s family with his arrangements.
